Beothuk Indian
Reconstruction of the skull of one of the last of the Beothuk Indians from Newfoundland in Canada, made in 2005 for the television program "Stealing Mary" for Windup Films.
The documentary describes the discovery in 1827 of an Indian tomb, containing two skulls and burial objects, and their use as evidence in the investigation of the abduction and murder of two of the last members of the Beothuk - Demasduit, whom the British called "Mary March", and her husband, Chief Nonosabasut. Mary was taken in a raid by the British, led by a Justice of the Peace. He testified in court that their deaths were an act of self-defence, but the film seeks to prove that they were actually revenge killings that would lead to the extinction of an entire People.
